Electrostatic Disinfection: How We Use The Clorox 360 for Supplemental Disinfecting
The goal we continue to strive for as a Spruce team is to keep our community as safe and healthy as possible. From office buildings to medical centers, our Sprucers are always working their very hardest to do what they can to ensure our clients have a space that they’re proud to do business in and feel safe to work in.
From our janitorial cleaning to regular disinfection to our premiere supplemental services, like electrostatic disinfection, we’re always aiming to be as thorough, transparent, and trustworthy as we’ve been trained to be. That being said, what is the difference between the services that we offer, and why are some supplemental to others rather than replacing them? We’re here to give you our answer, the way we do things here at Spruce.
What Is Disinfection and How Is It Different?
What do you think of when you hear the terms ‘cleaning’, ‘sanitizing’, and ‘disinfecting’? You may think that they’re all ways of saying the exact same thing, and you’re not alone.
Think of the three in a pyramid.
Cleaning is the large bottom portion of the pyramid. Cleaning is the removal of debris (organic and inorganic materials) from objects and surfaces that the ‘cleaning’ comes in contact with. Think of the materials being cleaned from surfaces like dust, dirt, and, like we said, debris.
Sanitizing, as the second part of the pyramid, is the reduction of organisms on a surface–keyword, reduction. By sanitizing surfaces, you’re only removing (not killing) the living organisms from a surface, organisms like viruses and germs.
Now to the top of the pyramid! Disinfecting sits at the top of our cleaning pyramid, being that it’s the most impactful for keeping our community safe and healthy. Disinfecting will kill those microscopic organisms on surfaces you can get to. Bye, bye living bacteria and viruses!
Disinfecting surfaces sure does go a long way, but there’s even more we can do! What we offer to our clients here at Spruce as a supplemental service to the cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting they’re already getting from our team is 360 degree disinfecting.
A Supplement to Disinfecting
Like we said before, disinfecting will kill those living organisms that oftentimes cause illness. It’s great and does wonders for helping to keep our community healthy, but there’s even more than can be done to improve efficiency!
Disinfecting surfaces by hand can only kill organisms that have been physically sanitized. What do we mean? Well, let’s say a Sprucer is disinfecting a school. They spray every visible surface possible and wipe it down, but what about those extra hard to reach places that janitorial staff just can’t get to on their own. Every inch and crevice of the workout equipment at the gym. The slats between chairs. Behind, under, and around the soap dispensers in public restrooms. These are all areas that can be home to viruses and bacteria that are almost impossible to reach by hand.
What if there was a way for disinfectants to reach every square inch of surfaces, even hard to reach ones? There is; electrostatic disinfection!
What Is Electrostatic Disinfecting?
Electrostatic disinfection is a type of spraying system that allows for disinfectants to reach the front, sides, back, and underside of surfaces, including ones that are impossible to reach by hand.
First, the system turns the liquid disinfectant into small droplets. After those droplets are formed, the droplets are individually charged. When sprayed they’re able to attract to and can adhere to all kinds of surfaces, spreading over, under, around, and in between, something a regular spray, mop, or cleaning wipe just couldn’t do. Say goodbye to bacteria and viruses like influenza, rhinovirus, and coronavirus, even on porous surfaces, cracks, and around corners.
The Clorox 360
The electrostatic system we use here at Spruce is called the Clorox 360 along with its disinfectant cleaner. Our Clorox 360 system kills 99.9% of bacteria in just 5 seconds and is registered to kill 44 organisms including Coronavirus, MRSA, Norovirus, and cold and flu viruses in 2 minutes or less.
This system, no doubt, also saves time and money when compared to other disinfectant systems. The Clorox 360 can disinfect up to 300 square feet of a space per minute and save up to 65% on disinfectant solutions.
Currently, the Spruce team is using this electrostatic disinfecting system to service a variety of businesses including hospital space, medical offices, surgery centers, business office spaces, labs, manufacturing plants, and more!
Aside from all the bad-for-you organisms that this system kills, the disinfecting products we use are safe for use on a wide range of both porous and non-porous surfaces, and bystanders can enter the room immediately after the product has been applied.
The Facts of Electrostatic Disinfection
While electrostatic disinfecting sure is a powerful way to help keep our community healthy and safe by killing all kinds of viruses and bacteria, it’s certainly not a one and done service. At Spruce, we always use electrostatic disinfecting as a supplemental service to our regularly scheduled cleaning services, ensuring even greater efficiency.
- Electrostatic disinfecting is not one-time insurance that your business, school, healthcare facility, or office building is 100% safe. Microorganisms are only killed when the disinfecting is happening, meaning when new organisms are introduced after disinfecting is complete, those organisms can adhere to surfaces and stay there. It’s not until disinfection is done again that those viruses and bacteria will be killed.
- Sprucers are trained to disinfect all common touchpoints and easy to reach surfaces during regular scheduled cleaning services. Electrostatic disinfection isn’t a replacement for regular service, but is a great addition to guarantee all surfaces are safe and disinfected.
- Electrostatic disinfection isn’t to be used as a protective barrier, but to kill bacteria and viruses on contact. This system won’t protect those disinfected surfaces from becoming infected again, so electrostatic disinfection should be performed frequently, especially in high-risk areas like healthcare facilities.
